Having roots in the Jackson area since 1973, Melissa has been hiking the trails around Jackson as long as she can remember. Melissa was raised in a military family, which came with moves every three or four years from the east coast to the Far East, Wyoming has always been home for her. A competitive athlete in softball and soccer, hiking Wyoming’s backcountry is what she loves best.
With continual curiosity, Melissa holds a B.A. in Biology and Chemistry from Whittier College, a M.S. in Microbiology and Molecular Immunology from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, an Masters in Acupuncture and a Doctorate in Chinese Medicine from Northwestern Health Sciences University.
Dr. Melissa brings a life-long passion for movement and health. She has spent the last 15 years working with athletes of all skill sets incorporating functional movement with corrective strategies to overcome injuries and improve movement patterns. With advanced degrees in western and eastern medicine she is passionate about integrating current research with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Addressing musculoskeletal pain, combining motor points with traditional needle techniques and point function, is her area of continued learning. She incorporates all modalities of TCM including medical massage (Tui Na), myofascial release (Gua Sha), Moxibustion (herbal heat),Cupping, and Food Therapies, with her Doctoral focus on Herbal Medicine.
Dr. Melissa is certified in Functional Movement Techniques Performance by RockTape; Sports Nutrition from Northwestern Health Sciences University; and Clinical (TCM) Practice from Henan University China. She has taken continuing education in Sports Acupuncture, Dry Needling, and Acupuncture for the Treatment of Orthopedic Disorders.
She is happy to be living her best life here, serving Jackson and the surrounding communities.
